Delicious Puff Pastry Roll with Ground Meat and Melting Cheese

Ingredients:

1 sheet of puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
300 grams ground beef or ground turkey
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Salt and pepper to taste
200 grams melting cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or gouda), shredded
1 egg (for egg wash)

Directions:

Prepare the filling: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking for 2-3 minutes until softened. Add the ground meat to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, until the meat is browned and cooked through. Season with dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Set aside to cool slightly.
Assemble the puff pastry roll: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet into a rectangle. Evenly spread the cooked ground meat mixture over the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the meat.
Roll and seal: Carefully roll up the puff pastry, starting from one edge, to form a log. Seal the edges by pressing them together gently. Place the rolled pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Egg wash and bake: Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush the top of the puff pastry roll with the egg wash to give it a golden finish. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and crispy.
Serve: Allow the puff pastry roll to cool slightly before slicing into individual pieces. Serve warm with a side salad or your favorite dipping sauce.
