Swedish Meatloaf

Ingredients:

For the Meatloaf:

2 pounds ground beef
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup whole milk
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 large egg
For the Gravy:

2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup heavy cream
Salt & pepper, to taste

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, mix the breadcrumbs and milk. Let sit for 5 minutes to absorb.
Add ground beef, chopped onion, garlic, salt, pepper, allspice, nutmeg, Worcestershire sauce, and egg. Mix until well combined.
Transfer the mixture to the prepared loaf pan and shape into a loaf.
Bake for 50-55 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
While the meatloaf bakes, prepare the gravy. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden.
Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Cook until thickened.
Stir in heavy cream, season with salt and pepper, and simmer for another 2 minutes.
Let the meatloaf rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with the creamy gravy on top. Enjoy!
Notes:

Serve with mashed potatoes or egg noodles for a classic pairing.
Add a pinch of cayenne for a subtle kick.
Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
