Ingredients:

– 1 lb ground beef
– 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
– 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
– 1/4 cup milk
– 1 egg
– 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
– 1 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1/2 teaspoon pepper
– 2 tablespoons olive oil
– 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
– 1 cup beef broth
– 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water (for thickening)
– 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Patties: In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully combined.
2. Form Patties: Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into oval patties, about 3/4 inch thick.
3. Cook the Patties: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until browned. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
4. Sauté the Mushrooms: In the same skillet, add sliced mushrooms. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until softened.
5. Make the Gravy: Pour in the beef broth and bring to a gentle simmer. Add the cornstarch mixture and stir until the gravy thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
6. Combine: Return the patties to the skillet, spoon some gravy over each one, and let simmer for an additional 5-7 minutes to heat through and absorb flavors.
7. Serve: Plate the Salisbury steaks, drizzle with additional gravy, and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve warm with mashed potatoes or your favorite side dish.
