A buttery, flaky croissant loaded with tender steak, gooey melted cheese, and fresh toppings, perfect for a gourmet meal at home.
Ingredients
For the Steak Filling:
1 lb steak (ribeye, sirloin, or flank, thinly sliced)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp smoked paprika
For the Sandwich:
1 giant croissant or 2 large croissants
4 slices provolone or Swiss cheese
1/2 cup sautéed onions
1/2 cup sautéed bell peppers (optional)
Lettuce and tomato slices (optional)
Optional Sauce:
2 tbsp mayo
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
1. Prep the Steak:
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil.
Season the steak slices with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
Cook steak slices in the skillet for 2–3 minutes per side until browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Remove and set aside.
2. Sauté Onions and Peppers:
In the same skillet, add a touch more oil if needed and sauté the onions and peppers until softened and caramelized, about 5–7 minutes.
3. Toast the Croissant:
Slice the giant croissant in half lengthwise.
Lightly toast the cut sides on a skillet or in the oven until golden brown.
4. Assemble the Sandwich:
Spread the sauce (if using) on the toasted sides of the croissant.
Layer the bottom half with lettuce, tomato, and the sautéed onions and peppers.
Pile on the cooked steak slices.
Top with cheese slices and place under a broiler for 1–2 minutes to melt the cheese (optional).
Cover with the top half of the croissant.
5. Serve Immediately:
Slice into halves or quarters if sharing, and serve with a side of chips, fries, or a fresh salad.
Tips for Perfection:
Use freshly baked croissants for the best texture.
Substitute steak with grilled chicken or roast beef for variety.
Add a drizzle of hot sauce or BBQ sauce for extra flavor.
Indulge in this decadent croissant sandwich for a meal that’s both elegant and satisfying!
