Homemade Fried Cheese Bites
Ingredients:
8 ounces block of cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite cheese)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper, to taste
Vegetable oil, for frying
Marinara sauce or ranch dressing, for dipping
Directions:
Cut the block of cheese into bite-sized cubes or sticks, about 1-inch in size.
In three separate shallow bowls, set up a breading station. Place the flour in the first bowl, beaten eggs in the second bowl, and breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in the third bowl.
Dredge each cheese cube in the flour, shaking off any excess. Dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off. Then, coat it evenly in the seasoned breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
Place the breaded cheese cubes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze them for about 30 minutes. This will help prevent the cheese from melting too quickly during frying.
In a large skillet, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking. Fry the cheese cubes in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan, until golden brown and crispy, about 1-2 minutes per side.
Using a slotted spoon, transfer the fried cheese bites to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Serve the Homemade Fried Cheese Bites hot with marinara sauce or ranch dressing for dipping.
