Ingredients:
For the Apple Filling:
6 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup (120ml) caramel sauce, plus more for drizzling
For the Crisp Topping:
1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
1 cup (80g) old-fashioned rolled oats
¾ cup (150g) brown sugar, packed
½ tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp salt
½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
Directions:
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Prepare the Apple Filling: In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract until evenly coated. Spread the apple mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish. Drizzle with ½ cup of caramel sauce.
Make the Crisp Topping: In another bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the cold, cubed butter, and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Assemble and Bake: Sprinkle the crisp topping evenly over the apples. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
Serve: Drizzle additional caramel sauce over the top of the crisp before serving. Enjoy warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired!
