Hamburger Steaks with Onion Gravy

Ingredients:

1 lb. ground beef
1 egg
1/3 cup bread crumbs
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp. oil
1 1/2 cup thinly sliced onion
2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 cup beef broth
1/2 tsp. salt

Instructions:

In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, black pepper, salt, onion powder, minced garlic, and Worcestershire sauce until well combined.
Form the mixture into thick patties.
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the patties and sliced onions to the skillet and fry until the patties are nicely browned on both sides.
Remove the patties from the skillet and set them aside, keeping them warm.
Sprinkle the flour over the onions and drippings in the skillet.
Stir the flour with a fork, scraping up any bits of beef stuck to the bottom of the skillet.
Gradually whisk in the beef broth, continuing to stir until the gravy is smooth and begins to thicken.
Season the gravy with the additional 1/2 tsp. of salt.
Reduce the heat to low, return the beef patties to the skillet, cover, and simmer for about 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Serve the hamburger steaks topped with the rich onion gravy.
